Sending Mail and Packages to your WVU Student

Here is some information about how mail and packages are delivered to your student living in a WVU Residence Hall. 

  • Students are assigned a mailbox in their residence hall.
  • Mail is delivered Monday - Friday in the residence halls; there is no Saturday delivery.
  • When a student receives a package, they will receive an email at their WVU MIX account and/or a package slip in their mailbox. 
  • Packages will be held and may be picked up during the following hours and locations:
    • Towers (Bennett, Braxton, Brooke and Lyon): Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 
      • All packages sent to Towers will be held in the Towers' mailroom
    • All other halls: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. 
      • Packages sent to all other halls will be held at the front desk of the respective hall
  • Students must show their Mountaineer ID, a driver's license or some other form of official identification to collect their package(s). 

  • Please note only certified mail services (US Mail, UPS, FedX, Amazon, etc.) are accepted by residence hall mail services.  Delivery of other types of food and/or grocery items (i.e. Grubhub, Doordash, Walmart, Target, etc.) requires the student to meet the delivery driver at the front desk so that they may take ownership of the delivery.  Due to safety reasons, deliveries cannot be left at the front desk.  While parents and friends may want to surprise their student with a delivery, this is not recommended. The student may not be in the building and the delivery will have to be returned.

Amazon Lockers

Located in Braxton Tower, Summit Hall and the Mountainlair, these lockers provide Amazon customers with the option to pick up their packages at secure, self-service kiosks at no additional cost.

Amazon Lockers can be especially helpful for those who live in residences where packages cannot be stored in a mail room or other secure location and for those who may be unable to pick up packages during their residence’s package pick-up hours.

 To utilize this pick-up option:

  • Select the applicable locker location at Amazon.com checkout.
  • Confirm you have access to the area of campus in which the locker is located. Please note that pick-up locations are not accessible to all 24/7. Non-residents cannot enter residence halls (including Braxton Tower and Summit Hall) from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily unless accompanied by a resident, and residence halls are closed during University breaks. For access to the Mountainlair lockers, refer to the Mountainlair hours of operation online.
  • You will receive a notification from Amazon that your package is ready for pick-up.
  • Pick up your package at the applicable location.

Addresses for USPS, FedEx, UPS and DHL

We have received several questions from families and friends of Towers’ residents about the appropriate mailing address to use when sending mail and packages to their student. There has been some inconsistent messaging about addresses to use for mail and package deliveries, and we apologize for any inconvenience or concerns raised. 

For some residence halls, multiple address options are provided below. This is because mail and delivery service providers maintain different addresses for these residence halls.  When sending mail or packages, please use the address accepted by the mail service you are using.
