Return to the Residence Halls

Your residence hall is your niche. Your space. Your home away from home. You belong here in the heart of the WVU experience—close to everything, surrounded by support, and free from the hassles of utility bills, landlords, and long commutes.

We understand the importance of convenience, and living in a residence hall saves you time and stress (no cooking, cleaning, or searching for parking). That’s why we’re inviting returning students—sophomores, juniors, and seniors—to live in a residence hall again for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Avoid the hassle of moving off campus—just apply online when the application opens in January.

If you prefer apartment-style living but still want the security and convenience of staying on campus, consider a University Apartment – College Park, University Park, University Place and Vandalia Apartments.

And if you change your mind after applying for a residence hall and sign an off-campus lease before the May 1 cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a partial refund of your housing deposit. After May 1, no refunds will be issued, and your WVU residence hall contract becomes binding as long as you remain registered as a WVU student.

The Fine Print

You are eligible to return to any residence hall with the exception of Lincoln and Honors Halls, which are designated for incoming first-year Honors College students. Seneca Hall is also unavailable to returning residents due to their eligibility for other University Apartment options, and because these limited residence hall apartment spaces are reserved for first-year students. Additionally, certain spaces in other residence halls may carry their own restrictions.
