If you are making a decision about returning to WVU for the spring 2018 semester, we would like to share with you some information about what that means for your residence hall contract. Students who decide not to return to WVU after they've left Morgantown and are home for the holidays must remove their belongings and return their keys before the start of the spring term. Hall staff should be available Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5, from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., for students to do this. Additional information about the Procedure for Leaving the Residence Halls can be found here.
When you vacate your room
for any reason (end of the year, approved room change, etc.) you must do the following.
- Contact your hall main desk to turn in your keys.
- Provide a forwarding address.
- Check the condition
of your room. The condition of your room will be checked against the room
condition report you signed when you checked in.
any damage to your RA during the preliminary room checks.
This procedure is for your protection. Room
occupants will be billed for rooms and/or furnishings that have sustained
damages or are excessively dirty.
- If you withdraw from the University prior to the end of the term, room and board charges are based on the date your key is returned and your belongings are moved from the room.
Your room and board contract is a legally binding agreement for
the entire academic year. Returning your room key and or moving out
does not cancel your housing contract. This would be a violation of
your housing contract, for which you would still be held financially
