Summer Housing

Summer Housing 2018


Welcome to summer term at West Virginia University! Students will have options to live on campus for all or part of the summer, and all billing is managed through the Office of Student Accounts. Students will also have the ability to select a meal plan. Housing is provided for students enrolled in WVU classes/seminars and University related internships for credit. Proof of student status or other University affiliation is required. Students are permitted to reside in the designated Summer Housing Residence Hall only while their classes are in session. They are not permitted to remain in the Residence Hall when not registered or when classes have ended.

There are limited spaces available for summer school housing. Housing will be available only in selected halls. Students must print and complete the summer application and bring it to the Housing Assignments Office located in M63 Brooke Tower or visit the office to receive an application. You may also fax your application to 304-293-4516, or mail your application to the Housing Assignments Office. You will receive notification of your assignment to your MIX account, and this will serve as your housing contract. The last day to cancel the housing contract is the day BEFORE your summer classes are scheduled to begin.

Monday, May 28 – Memorial Day Recess: University Closed
Monday, July 4 – Independence Day Recess: University Closed
Friday, August 3 – Vacate assigned space by 4:00 p.m., final day of summer classes

The last date to cancel the housing contract: the day before your summer classes are scheduled to begin.

There are no refunds for partial weeks. Refunds will not be made except in the event of withdrawal from WVU with required documentation.


Students arriving for the summer term (without reserved housing) should come to the Assignments Office, M-63 Brooke Tower. Office hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays (weekends and holidays excluded).

Students arriving for the summer term (with reserved housing) should go directly to the the hall they are assigned on the assigned move-in date.

If arriving when the Assignments Office is closed, students should report to the main desk of their summer housing assignment. If summer term housing was reserved in advance, students will be given their assignment and keys at the Bennett Main Desk. If summer term housing was not reserved in advance, students may be accommodated temporarily on a space available basis for one night only and report to the Assignments Office the next day. Students must check out of a temporary room by noon the next day.

The last day of your summer term class is also the last day of the summer term housing. Please make note of this and make arrangements to remove your belongings by 4:00 p.m., as NO exceptions will be made.

Students are permitted to reside in the Residence Hall only while their classes are in session. They are not permitted to remain in the Residence Hall when not registered for classes, when classes have ended, or the period between classes.


The last date to cancel the housing contract: the day BEFORE your first summer class is scheduled to begin. Cancellations may be sent via the student’s MIX account to or faxed to 304-293-4516.


Specific hall(s) will be designated as summer housing. Students must provide their own sheets, pillows, blankets and towels. Students are responsible for the care and cleaning of the rooms. Custodial service is provided for public areas only. Rooms must be returned to their original condition when vacated. Any damages beyond normal wear and tear (as determined by the Facility Manager) will be charged to the student. Additionally, student will be charged for non-returned keys.

A Resident Assistant will live with the summer school students and will be available to assist students. Students are responsible for conducting themselves within the guidelines of all Housing and Residence Life Community Standards of Conduct, WVU Policies and all state and local laws. Please note, alcohol is prohibited in all WVU residence halls. Additionally, you may contact the Bennett Tower Main Desk at 304-293-2813 for assistance.

The Mountain Line Bus Service provides regular bus service from the Evansdale Residential Complex (Towers). See for additional information regarding routes.
