MAKING WVU YOUR HOME

Moving in for the first time? Returning to campus for spring 2019 semester? We have you covered on how to make WVU a home away from home.

MOVE-IN for Spring 2019 begins Saturday, January 5 when the residence halls open at noon. New to WVU? Returning for Spring semester? Here's what you need to know before you come to campus.

When can you arrive in January?

Students may move in beginning Saturday, January 5, 2019 at noon. Please check-in at your residence hall main desk.

Planning to attend New Student Orientation on Thursday, January 3 to get the inside scoop on all things WVU? You will receive info about early move-in options in the confirmation you will receive the week before NSO.

HOUSEKEEPING NOTES:

Move-in Tips:

  • Use small boxes/containers to make carrying easier.
  • Bring only a single vehicle if at all possible.
  • We have four seasons – consider bringing items you will need for late summer/fall and take those home with you at Spring break, and bring spring/summer items when you return.
  • Check out MicroFridge, WVU's partner for microwave/refrigerator combination units - it's the only allowable microwave for the residence halls. Check with your roommate as they may already have one – you can split the cost – and you won’t have to carry it to your room.
  • OCM has a wide selection of linens: sheets, blankets, towels, and more. Order from them and they will deliver to your residence hall – you’ll have more room in your car for you and your family!
  • You’ll want to personalize your space; wait until you arrive so you can coordinate with your roommate (avoid duplication!) and have a good feel for the space you’ve been assigned.
  • Decorations are best hung with approved poster “putty.” Removing 3M Command strips improperly may damage plaster and paint which will result in damage charges.
  • NO CANDLES. Please don’t bring them as we’ll ask you to send them back home or discard them.

What to Bring and What  not to Bring

Check out the list of suggested items to bring with you to your new home away from home. Coordinate with your roommate about what they are bringing and how  to maximize the space in your room.

Please note: the only microwave approved for use in residence halls is a MicroFridge, available for rent through MyMicroFridge
