Select Your Roommate

Because there are a limited number of vacant rooms, and many students who have already applied for housing have assigned roommates, the roommate searching feature has been disabled. 
However, we still encourage you to complete your roommate profile and matching questions in the Housing Portal. Once you have been assigned a space, this information is how your roommate will get to know you. When your space has been assigned, a message will be sent to your MIX email address. You can then return to the Housing Application, click on Application Status (upper right hand corner) to find the name of your roommate and your room location. You can then contact your future roommate; this may be a message via MyHousing.

Room change requests

Before June 30, you can ask to change your assigned room. 

To request a roommate change, send an email from your MIX account to WVU-Assign@mail.wvu.edu

  • Your request must include your name, current room assignment, WVU ID number, preferred hall, preferred room type and name of requested roommate(s).
  • You can request a specific roommate, but the likelihood of actually getting that roommate is low because a completely vacant room must be available to which both of you can be assigned.

If you change your mind and want to be removed from the room-change list, you must send another email to WVU-Assign@mail.wvu.edu Please keep in mind that once you are reassigned, your previous assignment will no longer be available.
