FAQs: Residence Hall Assignments

Completing your Housing Application

As you complete the Housing Application, please indicate your preference for a Living-Learning Community and your preferred residence hall(s). The assignments team will review your preferences and assign your housing space based on current availability.

Check your room and roommate assignment

Please be sure to check your WVU email account (MIX account) daily because you will receive an email when your assignment has been processed. You will then be able to review your assignment information and communicate with your roommate(s) via the housing portal.

If you have any questions, please call the Housing Assignments Office at 304-293-2811. If your desired space is not available, or if you have a specific roommate request, please see the information below about room change requests.

Room change requests

If you have questions about your housing assignment, please contact the Housing Assignments Office at 304-293-2811 Monday – Friday (8:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.)

You may request an assignment change; the last day to do so is June 30.

To request a housing assignment change, please complete the Room Change Request Form. You must have a current assignment before making a request for a change in assignment. A request is not a guarantee of an assignment change; changes will be made based upon space availability and are first-come, first-served.

If you change your mind and want to be removed from the room-change list, you must send an email to WVU-Assign@mail.wvu.edu. If you have been reassigned, your previous assignment will no longer be available.

If you made a room change request, please be sure to check MyHousing often for updated room assignments.
