Important Dates for Housing Applications for the Academic Year
Freshmen students are required to pay an academic deposit. After this is paid, we accept housing applications until school starts each term and usually at any time during the semester. However, it is best to apply early. The earlier you apply, the better your chances are of getting your preferences.
Remember that late applicants may have to wait for a room assignment and may be assigned to temporary housing if space is not available when you apply. After the halls fill, we utilize extended and temporary housing sites to meet the demand.
October - On-Line Housing Applications
The submission of on-line housing application starts. Students must pay the academic and housing deposits prior to their application being completed.
February - Room Selection Process Begins
Students were provided their priority dates when their housing application and deposit were submitted. If you cannot remember your dates, refer back to the confirmation e-mail you received at your WVU MIX account.
The on-line assignment process begins in February for the academic year and continues on a rolling basis for those students who have submitted an application and have paid their housing deposit. The day after you make your room selection, you will be able to log into your account through MIX and view information about your roommate, if applicable.

February 1- Requests for Mutual Roommates Deadline
Requests to be roommates become more difficult as the rooms fill-up. If the student who you would like to have as your roommate has not already done, so encourage them to apply on-line for housing today. Your requested roommate must list you as a roommate; therefore they will need your MIX e-mail address. To hold a room for roommates, the request and acceptance must be received within 30 days of each other. Students who have a requested roommate and who do not get into the same due to space limitations should read the information about getting on the waitlist to be moved together at Waitlist for Residence Halls at http://housing.wvu.edu/apply/waitlist.html
